Member Services

The Portage Township YMCA is looking for a tech savvy, computer literate, friendly and outgoing individual who work well in a fast-paced environment. Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older and available for shifts during all staffed business hours: Monday-Friday 4am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday, 6am-6pm. Shifts and hours will vary. One year or more of custome service expierence peferred.

Housekeeping

Nutrition Kitchen

The Nutrition Kitchen is up and running, but as we near the official Grand Opening (April 4) of our Brand New Nutrition Kitchen inside the Portage YMCA, we are looking for a couple more reliable, responsible and friendly staff with previous experience in customer service & food service positions as well as those who have nutritional knowledge.  Specifically seeking individuals with availability from 8am-12pm Sunday - Saturday.

Job duties will include, but are not limited too:
Welcoming customers
Promoting, preparing, and selling product
Operating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment
Keeping accurate records of sales, cash, and product inventory

Before & After School Child Care

We are currently seeking talented, caring, and compassionate individuals for positions in our before & after school child care program, Y-Care. Rotating weekly shifts. Shifts vary and are from 6:30am - 8:45am and 3:00pm - 6:00pm, Monday - Friday. Starting pay $7.50/hour.

1. At least 18 years of age
2. At least one year of experience is required
3. High school diploma
4. Training must include: Advanced CPR & First Aid, Universal Precautions, Child Abuse Prevention training, and 12 credit hours of additional training per calendar year, 6 of which must be outside the YMCA.
5. Current within 1 year Negative TB test
6. FBI Fingerprint background check required by state of Indiana

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to instruct and observe participants in after-school program.
• Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child if necessary.
• Ability to plan, instruct and participate in activities with participants.

Gymnastics Coaches

The Portage Township YMCA gymnastics program was established in 1981 and is the longest running program in our area with both progressive classes and team levels available to the community.  We are currently seeking dedicated, reliable, cause-driven coaches approximately 4-6 hours per week.

  • have advanced gymnastics knowledge for team

Summer Camp

Position Overview
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general direction of the School-Age Child Care Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the overall program, supervision of children and day-to-day operation of the Y Camp program. Counselors will ensure developmentally appropriate practices and the safety and individual needs of each camper while modeling, practicing and carrying out YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith through intentional character development practices.
